An experimental method used to treat blindness has been proven partially effective in a 58-year-old French man with retinitis pigmentosa. The treatment approach, called optogenetic therapy, uses image-enhancing goggles and was developed by a scientist at the University of Pittsburgh and colleagues in Switzerland and France.
