South Jersey man allegedly killed wife, then parked next to police station

Shawn Lichtfuss, 49, is charged with first-degree murder for the death of his wife, 38-year-old Stefanie Caraway, at their home in Camden County, prosecutors said. The woman was strangled, according to the medical examiner. Lichtfuss was found in his parked car next to the Vorhees Township Police Department.

The Philadelphia Eagles community and family members of Kevin Chaffinch are mourning his death after the 41-year-old husband and father of two suffered a fatal heart attack in July. Chaffinch was a founding member of the Philadelphia Eagles Drumline.

Pennsylvania girl suffers apparent shark bite at Maryland beach

A 12-year-old Pennsylvania girl suffered an apparent shark bite while visiting Ocean City, Maryland, with her family on Monday. The bite happened in shallow water off the 119th Street Beach, officials said. The girl required 42 stitches for 20 different cuts. The Ocean City Beach Patrol said the incident remains under investigation.

Delta much more contagious than other COVID-19 variants, CDC document says

An Internal CDC document warns the Delta variant is far more infectious and potentially more severe than previous strains of COVID-19. New evidence suggests the Delta variant may be just as easily spread by unvaccinated people and vaccinated people who get a breakthrough infection. The vaccines remain effective in preventing serious illness, but with half the U.S. population still unvaccinated, officials are increasingly worried that the Delta variant could cause a much more serious coronavirus resurgence than had been anticipated.

Fishtown's Kensington National Bank building could be redeveloped with apartments

Developers are proposing a plan to redevelop the site of the former Kensington Bank Building in Fishtown, which is currently the site of a Wells Fargo Bank. A proposal would add a new building on the surface parking lot at 2 West Girard Avenue, with 59 residential units and ground floor commercial space. The bank building was constructed in 1978 and designed by architect Frank Furness.

Longwood Gardens closes for days after truck crashes into visitor center

Longwood Gardens will be closed until Wednesday, Aug. 4 due to a tractor-trailer crash at the east side of the visitor center at the popular Kennett Square destination. Ticket purchases will be refunded for the days impacted by the closure. No serious injuries were reported in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Sheetz hoax in Pittsburgh shows their customers are just as crazed as Wawa lovers

Students at the University of Pittsburgh and residents of the city's Oakland neighborhood were hoaxed with a fake sign claiming that a Sheetz store was coming to a vacant lot. Their frustration suggests their passion for Sheetz may be just as strong as the love for rival Wawa in the Philadelphia area.

Philadelphia Eagles rookie wide receiver DeVonta Smith has taken an equity stake in LifeBrand, a West Chester-based tech company that provides online reputation management services for individuals and businesses. The Eagles struck a partnership with LifeBrand earlier this year and the deal represents Smith's first endorsement as an NFL player.

Philadelphia-born rapper Lil Uzi Vert is a year younger than he thought, based on a birth certificate that his mother found. Uzi, who's busy working on "Forever Young" and "Luv is Rage 3," was born in 1995 and will turn 26 on July 31. He had previously thought he was born a year earlier.

Second person charged in deadly shooting at Pat's King of Steaks, police say

Philadelphia police have charged Jamie Frick, 36, for her alleged role in he fatal shooting of David Padro at Pat's King of Steaks in South Philly on July 22. She is the second person charged, along with Paul Burkert, 36, of Reading, for shooting and killing Padro, 22, during an altercation at the cheesesteak shop.
