Martin Luther King Drive in Philadelphia will reopen to vehicle traffic on Aug. 4, 2021, after nearly 15 months of closure during the coronavirus pandemic. The War on Drugs will release their next studio album, "I Don't Live Here Anymore," on Oct. 29 via Atlantic Records. The Philadelphia band offered a video for their first single, "Living Proof," in advance of ticket sales starting July 23 for a world tour that includes two dates in at The Met Philadelphia on Jan. 27 and Jan. 28.

Juvenile arrested after Pa. Game Commission employee injured in ATV hit-and-run crash, officials say

A Pennsylvania Game Commission employee was struck by an ATV rider in a hit-and-run Monday in Schuylkill County, officials said. The ATV driver, a juvenile, fled the scene outside State Game Lands 236 in Butlter Township and was later arrested. The victim, a game lands maintenance supervisor, suffered a serious injury to his leg and was flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Man shot outside Chickie's & Pete's in Northeast Philly

A 23-year-old man was critically injured in a shooting outside a Chickie's & Pete's restaurant in the Mayfair section of Northeast Philadelphia on Thursday night. The incident stemmed from an argument inside the bar and a gun battle ensued outside the business. No arrests have been made and a weapon was not recovered, police said.

Philly surpasses 300 homicides in 2021 amid record pace and search for solutions

Philadelphia has hit a mark of 300 homicides in 2021 and is on pace to surpass a record of 500 homicides in 1990. The majority of homicides are fatal shootings, but overall shootings have increased significantly over the last year. Lawmakers and community groups continue to invest in neighborhood programs and events aimed at protecting those at risk and illustrating the emotional cost of violence.
