Multi-car crash on Platt Bridge kills 1 person, injures 2 others

The George C. Platt Memorial Bridge in South Philadelphia closed for several hours Monday morning due to a fatal multi-car crash. Police said the driver of a BMW lost control of his car, flipped into the opposite lanes and collided with two other cars, killing the driver of a Toyota Camry. The BMW driver was in critical condition.

City council approves tax breaks for developer on former oil refinery site in Southwest Philly

City council unanimously passed legislation Thursday to extend a Keystone Opportunity Zone agreement for the former site of the Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery. This designation would provide tax breaks for the developer.

Woman in wheelchair killed in hit-and-run crash in Fairmount Park

A woman using a wheelchair was fatally struck in a hit-and-run crash on the 2200 block of Reservoir Drive in Fairmount Park at 1:46 a.m. Tuesday, police said. Investigators are searching for a possibly silver vehicle. The woman's name and age have not been released.

SS United States, landlord reach settlement for artificial reefing in Florida

Two years of legal disputes have finally reached a conclusion for the SS United States, a former cruise liner docked in South Philly. The ship with "soon" depart for Norfolk, Virginia before it heads to Florida to be sunk as an artificial reef.

Three nurses struck in hit-and-run while treating 28-year-old who had been shot

A driver in a silver Jeep Cherokee struck three Penn Presbyterian nurses early Saturday morning as they treated a man who had been shot. The staffers were hit when the driver, who brought the man to the hospital, attempted to flee the scene.
