Woman shot in face answering knock at door in Hunting Park

A woman was shot in the face early Monday morning while answering a knock at her door in Hunting Park, 6ABC reports.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on the 4100 block of N. Franklin St. The 22-year-old woman opened the front door and was shot in the face at point-blank range, police said.

"Fortunately, it was a small caliber round - not to make light of it - we hope that she can pull through," Philadelphia Police Capt. Drew Techner told 6ABC. "She was transported by the police to Temple University Hospital, where she's being treated."

The woman was conscious and speaking with police after being admitted to the hospital, according to a friend.

Police are searching for two male suspects who fled on North Franklin Street toward Hunting Park Avenue.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Philadelphia police.
