Get a free açaí bowl sample in Rittenhouse on Thursday

Looks like ice cream but it's an antioxidant-rich breakfast food

SoBol's menu features three sizes of açaí bowls.

Açaí (pronounced "ah-sah-ee") bowls, which looks like ice cream and almost taste like ice cream, have gained popularity in recent years.

Açaí berries, the purple superfood, are turned into a thick smoothie and then granola and fruit are placed on top, creating an antioxidant-rich (and photogenic!) breakfast.

This Thursday, June 21, you can enjoy the feel-good food for free. SoBol in Rittenhouse will be handing out four-ounce açaí bowls from noon to 2 p.m., at the corner of 17th and Chestnut streets.

If a sample isn't enough, you can purchase an açaí bowl off the menu. It contains homemade granola, an assortment of blueberries, sliced bananas, strawberries, a sprinkle of coconut and a drizzle of honey.

SoBol also offers smoothies and pitaya (also known as "dragon fruit") bowls, made with pitaya purée, granola, mango, kiwi, pineapple, a sprinkle of coconut and a drizzle of honey.

The eatery is open seven days a week, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
