Mr. Hot Wing the goldfish and his new set of "braces."

Even aquatic life forms occasionally need some dental work.

Mr. Hot Wing, a goldfish, was brought into Lehigh Valley Veterinary Dermatology for difficulty breathing and an inability to eat, according to the office's Facebook page.

The fish was born without a lower jaw bone and its mouth could not stay open.

So, Dr. Brian Palmeiro, a Long Island native, performed surgery on Hot Wing and created a brace to help its mouth stay open.

According to ABC7, Palmeiro did "a lot of research" before crafting the brace out of a credit card, with the whole procedure costing about $150.

Goldfish typically cost about a dollar, meaning the owner could have — if my math is correct — bought an additional 150 goldfish in lieu of surgery.

Mr. Hot Wing must be pretty special.
