Widely circulated books like "The Lowland," "The Dog Stars," "A Visit from the Goon Squad" and "The Wangs vs. The World" were created by these female artists.

We've all heard the phrase, "Don't judge a book by its cover," but in this case, it's OK to admire the bold, colorful and understated cover designs.

The job of these artists is to capture the character of the book through the typography, illustrations or photography on the jacket.

While the exhibit is free, registration is required to attend. The event, hosted by AIGA Philadelphia, is in celebration of Women's History Month.
