Jason Peters is carted off the field during the first quarter of Sunday night's game in Charlotte.

UPDATE [10:30 p.m.] - The Eagles have announced that Jason Peters is officially out for the rest of Sunday night's game against the Panthers with lower back spasms.

FROM EARLIER...

The Eagles' already suspect offensive line may have just lost its best player.

Late in the first quarter of the Eagles' game against the Panthers, left tackle Jason Peters went down in a heap and after a long time down on the field, the 33-year old veteran was carted off the field and back into the Eagles locker room.

In his absence, Matt Tobin moved from right guard to left tackle and Dennis Kelly took over Tobin's vacated RG spot.

At first, it looked like it may have been a leg injury, as Peters went down with sustaining any hits, although he was engaged with the defensive lineman -- essentially, it was a non-contact injury. Peters tore his Achilles tendon twice during the 2012 offseason, and missed time this season with a lingering quadricep injury.

However, it was a back injury that knocked the seven-time Pro Bowl tackle out of Sunday night's game according to the Eagles.

Based on how much trouble he had just getting from the turf to the cart, it's very surprising that Peters is listed as questionable, rather than doubtful or out. That's definitely a good sign for the Birds offense.
