Experts to teach 5-minute lessons on sustainability

Learn about hemp as fabric fiber vs. cotton.

The Philly-based Energy Co-op and Green Philly blog are hosting an educational happy hour event on Wednesday, Jan. 23. 

Speakers will discuss how sustainability works, diving into topics like sustainable beer and vertical gardening.

The topics will be explained in 5-minute lessons.

Below is exactly what will be discussed.

• How the energy grid works and what happens when you purchase solar or wind energy.
• How vertical gardening saves 90 percent more water than conventional agriculture.
• How sustainable practices are used in the brewery process.
• How using hemp as a fabric fiber is more beneficial to the environment than cotton.

The event will take place at United by Blue in Old City, a store that sells sustainable clothing. Also, for every product sold, United by Blue removes a pound of trash from the ocean.

Tickets are $15 to attend. Arrive by 7 p.m. for the two-hour event.
