IBEW Local 98 Safety Director Nick Gummel gets into the spirit of things with some Eagles cheerleaders.

Our beloved Philadelphia Eagles are the defending Superbowl Champions, but it’s the team’s commitment to families impacted by autism that may be its greatest accomplishment.

Many families right here in the Greater Philadelphia region have loved ones who have been affected by autism. Globally, it’s estimated that 1 in 100 children have some form of autism. Our IBEW Local 98 family is no stranger to the disorder. Many members have children who are on the autism spectrum, which is why we chose to closely partner with the Philadelphia Eagles Autism Foundation. In the few years that Local 98 has been involved, our members have raised or contributed more than $75,000 and counting.

IBEW Local 98 Business Manager Mark Lynch, Jr. tells the press about the union’s support of the Eagles Autism Foundation.

The Eagles Autism Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for innovative research and care programs. By providing the necessary resources to doctors and scientists at leading institutions, the Foundation will be able to assist those currently affected by autism as well as future generations. The Annual Eagles Autism Challenge, happening Saturday, May 17th at Lincoln Financial Field, aims to inspire and engage the community so we can provide much-needed support to make a lasting impact in the field of autism.

This fun, interactive day of athletic competition includes a 5k Run/Walk, Bike Race, Sensory Walk and even the opportunity to participate virtually.

Championed by Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie, the Eagles Autism Foundation funds innovative research, drives scientific breakthroughs, and provides critical resources to create a major shift from awareness to action through its signature fundraising event. One hundred percent of participant-raised funds from the team’s signature charity event are invested into the autism research and care community, with more than $30 million raised in just seven years.
