IKEA said its wireless charging home furnishings will be available in Europe and North America this April.

Global retailer IKEA will launch a collection of wireless charging home furnishings in April, the company announced Sunday.

The collection of Qi-powered bedside tables, lamps and desks, which will allow users to stay charged and connected without the mess of wires, will be available in Europe and North America first, followed by a global rollout.

Qi is the leading global wireless charging standard from the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC).

"Our belief is that mobile phones are vital parts to people's lives at home and their desire to stay connected, and Qi addresses an unmet need to keep devices powered," Bjorn Block, range manager for lighting and wireless charging at IKEA, said in a statement. "As a member of WPC, we value the access to the leading and most advanced global standard for wireless charging."

Qi is designed into more than 80 mobile devices, 15 models of cars and numerous mobile accessories.
