Joe Biden to speak at American Revolution Museum opening

Author David McCullough also among speakers

Former Vice President Joe Biden will speak at the grand opening ceremony for the Museum of the American Revolution next month.

Biden will be joined by a group of speakers that also includes Pulitzer Prize-winning author David McCullough and political commentator Cokie Roberts.

The ceremony is slated for April 19, which marks the 242nd anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary War.

"Vice President Biden has worked tirelessly on both sides of the aisle at the highest levels of government and is committed to the Philadelphia region," Museum CEO Michael Quinn said in a statement. "With a passion for education and deep appreciation for history, he embodies the Museum's mission to instill the lessons of liberty in every rising generation."

The ceremony will begin at 8 a.m. with events that stretch from Washington Square to Independence Hall. The official dedication will happen at 10:30 a.m. at the plaza in front of the new museum, located at Third and Chestnut streets.

Tickets to the ceremony will be made available via an online contest from April 3 to 14. Opening-day tickets to the museum itself can be purchased now online or by calling 267-579-3596.
