Daniel Krilov performs "Atlas, Rise!" off Metallica's 2016 album "Hardwired ... to Self-Destruct."

Metal is alive and well in Philadelphia, thanks in part to a 10-year-old.

Daniel Krilov, a young drummer in the city's Holmesburg section, recently accepted a challenge from Rock and Roller Hall of Famers Metallica, who had asked fans to submit video covers of their favorite song off the new album "Hardwired ... to Self-Destruct."

Krilov chose to go with thrash throwback "Atlas, Rise!" which tops out above the six minute mark. He nailed it and Metallica took notice.

"Thank you Metallica for sharing my video. I will never forget this day," Krilov later wrote on Instagram. "I got a lot of new followers and metal friends today. I hope you come to Philly next year so I can see you live."

Let's all hope this kid rides the lightning, buys a double bass pedal and unleashes a hardcore pulse the likes of which we haven't seen in years.

Here's the full Metallica song for reference.
