Model files sexual assault lawsuit against Bill Cosby

Chloe Goins seeking damages stemming from alleged 2008 incident

A model has brought a lawsuit against embattled comedian Bill Cosby, claiming he sexually assaulted her seven years ago.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Los Angeles by Chloe Goins, 24, who says Cosby brought her a drink that made her feel sick when she was a teenager at the Playboy Mansion in 2008.

The suit alleges that she blacked out in a bedroom and woke up naked with Cosby biting one of her toes. More from Entertainment Weekly:

“Today marks a critical step in empowering women to address the rape culture that has become so prevalent in the entertainment industry and in the American conversation,” said Goins’ attorney, Spencer Kuvin, in a written statement. “With this lawsuit, we are effectively leveling the playing field between the rich and powerful and the voiceless victims they exploit.”

She is seeking $75,000 in damages.

Since accusations of sexual assault against Cosby have risen into the limelight in recent years, more and more women have come forward with allegations.

In September, three more women came forward saying the comedian had assaulted them in a press conference, joining more than 50 women who have done the same.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Los Angeles prosecutors were looking into Goins' case to possibly bring the first set of criminal charges against the comedian.

Cosby's legal team has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
