Nauti Mermaid, a new "crab-centric" restaurant from Jolly Weldon and Amy Tommarelli, is opening in Old City on Friday, July 6.
It will operate in the space that was former Eagles player Brent Celek's Prime Stache. Jolly's Dueling Piano Bar is located above.
The restaurant's executive chef will be Damian Tarlecki, a Southern Maryland native who will bring the flavors of the Maryland shore to Old City.
"I know Philadelphia's food scene is booming right now, and being so near the Shore, I'm sure there will be no shortage of seafood lovers who will love what we're bringing to the table," said Tarlecki.
Nauti Mermaid will serve blue crabs, soft and hard shell crabs and snow crabs, plus crab soup, fried soft shell crab sandwiches, crab cakes and crab cocktail.
There's also the "Nauti Blue Boil" with blue crabs, shrimp, oysters, sausage, potatoes and corn in a spicy broth.
While crab dishes are a large part of the menu, there are other things to eat, like oysters (buck-a-shuck during happy hour), fried chicken, Maryland ham and pork cheek nachos.
On the drinks menu, there will be beers from Maryland, wine and fruity, frozen cocktails.
To celebrate the opening, there will be a party on Tuesday, July 10. Guests can enjoy a complimentary raw bar with shucked oysters, $1 drafts and $1 cocktails from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., as well as $5 steamed crabs from 5 p.m. to close.
For now, Nauti Mermaid will only be open for dinner. Brunch, lunch and late-night service to be added later.
The restaurant will be open Tuesdays through Sundays.
