Paul McCartney to play Wells Fargo Center this summer

International tour, festival dates bring icon to Philly

Wells Fargo Center made a mysterious announcement on their social media profiles Thursday, April 23 promising a big concert reveal for Friday, April 24. Fab Four fans quickly figured out from the photo of an iconic bass guitar in LOVE Park that the impending announcement was an upcoming appearance by Sir Paul McCartney

Now, Live Nation has officially confirmed that McCartney will perform at Wells Fargo Center on Sunday, June 21.  Tickets go on sale Friday, May 1 at noon.

The date may not come as a surprise to many, as McCartney is already slated to perform at the Firefly Music Festival in Delaware on Friday, June 19. It only makes sense he'd stop by for an arena show so the anti-festival set can see him, too.

This summer is a busy one for McCartney. In addition to Firefly, he'll play Lollapalooza in Chicago and the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, plus dates of his "Out There" tour in Asia and Europe through July. This will be the first U.S. arena stop of the "Out There" tour. McCartney's set will include hits from his solo career, his time as a member of The Beatles and Wings, and songs from his latest album "New."
