Broadway star and Philly POPS to perform Billy Joel hits

Concert attendees can expect to hear Joel favorites like 'Uptown Girl'

The Piano Man will be in Philly this summer, but Billy Joel fans can experience a taste of his music early with the Philly POPS weekend concert series beginning March 4.

The 65-piece orchestra will be accompanied by Broadway’s Michael Cavanaugh and his five-piece rock band.

Cavanaugh is extremely familiar with Joel's songbook. He was hand-selected by the singer to play the lead in the musical "Movin' Out," which uses Joel songs for each musical number.

Concert attendees can expect to hear favorites like "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant," "Uptown Girl," "She’s Got A Way," "Just the Way You Are" and "New York State of Mind."

Three concert times will be available through the weekend. The Friday, March 4 show will begin at 8 p.m., while the Saturday and Sunday performances begin at 3 p.m.
