UPDATE: Real Food Eatery opens Wednesday, July 20 at 11 a.m. Menu can be seen here.

Center City will soon have another healthy fast-casual restaurant for workers on the go when Real Food Eatery opens on Walnut Street in July.

According to Philly Eater, the new concept is a collaboration between Mike Mangold and John Colasante, two lifelong friends who banded together to bring their backgrounds in health and wellness to Philadelphia. While they come from landscaping and tech, respectively, they're confident they can bring an affordable new option to the busiest — and shortest-on-time — section of the city.

They'll be facing plenty of competition right from the jump. Earlier this year, we rounded up our top five vegetarian restaurants in Center City, led by local favorites Vedge, Charlie was a sinner and HipCityVeg.

That's no deterrent to Mangold and Colasante, who aren't opening a vegetarian restaurant but will have plenty of salads. Their menu will offer customizable "Real Plates" that include a base green or grain to go with a meat of choice and two sides, both cold and hot.

Real Food Eatery, located at 1528 Walnut Street, is expected to open in mid-July. You can stay up to date on progress at their website.
