Nine charged in Chester County-Philly drug bust, prosecutors say

Chester County prosecutors charged nine people following an investigation into drug trafficking that allegedly stemmed from a supplier in Philadelphia. Police seized over $150,000 in methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana, as well as more than $45,000 in cash and numerous guns.

Death of man found at Camden County scouting site being investigated as homicide

Camden County detectives are investigating the death of 54-year-old Joseph Bottino, a Gloucester Township man who was found dead at a Pine Hill reservation on Dec. 23. Family members of the victim told investigators Bottino had gone hunting at the location on numerous occasions in the past.

An audit of Philadelphia's response to the George Floyd protests determined that the police and city were inadequately prepared for the spontaneous nature of civil unrest, leading to poor strategic operations and unjustified use of force against demonstrators. A 110-page report from the audit offers recommendations on how to improve the city's response to future events and institute suggested reforms.

COVID-19 community spread linked to lower survival rates at local hospitals, Penn researchers find

Hospital mortality rates for COVID-19 appear to be influenced by the degree of community spread in areas where patients are admitted, according to new research out of Penn Medicine and UnitedHealth Group. The study looked at data on 40,000 patients at 955 hospitals from January through June 2020.

A firefighter made a brave rescue of a dog trapped inside a burning barn fire in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The Lititz Fire Co., which responded to the scene, provided helmet cam footage of the rescue made by firefighter Ryan Balmer.
