Temple students to try and break world record for PB&J sandwiches

Food will go to charitable organizations

When we first found out that Temple University students were going to try and break a record for the most peanut butter and jelly sandwiches made in an hour, our first thought was, "There's a world record for most peanut butter and jelly sandwiches made in an hour?"

There is, and the Guinness World Record is 39,303, to be exact. It was set in Texas in June, with the sandwiches going to charitable organizations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Temple students, faculty, alumni and staff will try and hit a mark of 40,000 sandwiches at the Liacouras Center on Monday, Sept. 19, in a "PB&J-making frenzy," according to a press release. Doors for the event open at 4 p.m., and the attempt will officially start at 6 p.m.

Fifteen food banks and shelters across the Philly region will be receiving the sandwiches.
