Two onlookers attending a weekend event at the Atco Dragway were injured Sunday afternoon in an accident in the racetrack's pit area, officials said.
The incident occurred at the 23rd annual Pan American Nationals, where U.S. racers squared off against opponents from Puerto Rico on the quarter-mile track, according to NJ.com.
Waterford Township Police Lieutenant David D'Amico said one of the racecar drivers slammed into a parked car in the pit area, striking two victims shortly after noon.
One of the victims suffered a lower leg injury and the second victim reported chest and rib pain. Both were transported to Cooper University Hospital, NBC10 reports.
The crash has been deemed an accident and D'Amico said no charges are expected.
