Bail set at $1 million for teen girl accused of slaying Camden boy

Casche Alford, 17, is charged with the murder of 13-year-old Nate Plummer Jr.

A 17-year-old Camden girl was ordered held on $1 million bail Friday in connection with the slaying of a 13-year-old Camden boy, according to the spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

Casche Alford is charged with the murder of Nate Plummer Jr.

The boy was shot near Beacon and Line streets on the night of Jan. 7 while on his way to a relative's home.

His slaying was the first of 2016.

A student at the city's Octavius V. Catto Community School, the boy died less than an hour later.

Alford appeared at a hearing before Superior Court Judge John T. Kelley Friday afternoon. She had been waived up to adult court the day before due to the seriousness of the crime.

Alford had been at a juvenile facility since Jan. 9, when she surrendered to Camden County Police. She turned herself in the day after she allegedly shot Alford, but not for committing the slaying.

She had surrendered in connection with a non-fatal shooting in October. Police linked the weapon in that case to the Plummer murder.
