Broken water main creates large freezing geyser in Conshohocken

Crews worked early Wednesday morning to cap a large freezing geyser after a water main broke in Conshohocken, 6ABC reports.

The incident occurred before 6:30 a.m. at Washington and Cherry streets.

Water was sent flying high into the air from a hole in the street. Because of the sub-freezing temperatures, the water was freezing on trees and nearby power lines.

Crews were on the scene. After two attempts to cap the geyser, the water was finally shut off at 7:30 a.m.

The cause of the break was not immediately known.

Drivers should avoid the area.
