Christie says he's friends with Bon Jovi, not Springsteen

Chris Christie revealed on Fox News's "Hannity" on Tuesday night that while he's a fan of Jersey rocker Bruce Springsteen, the two are not friends, NJ.com reports.

The night before, Christie performed a lip sync to Springsteen's classic, "Born in the U.S.A." on NBC's "The Tonight Show."

So host Sean Hannity asked the governor and Republican presidential candidate if Jon Bon Jovi, who also lives in New Jersey, gets jealous of Christie's love for Springsteen.

"No. I'm actually friends with Jon, so..." Christie responded. "Bruce, I know; Jon, I'm friends with."

Meanwhile, in November 2012, the governor had declared his friendship with Springsteen after The Boss hugged him during NBC's telethon to raise money for hurricane victims.

Now, it seems the 2016 GOP presidential hopeful is trying to distance himself from Springsteen, a known Democratic supporter.

"I mean, politically, I'm not his cup of tea," Christie told Hannity.

Unlike Springsteen, Bon Jovi has agreed to let Christie use his songs on the 2016 campaign trail, and when he made his presidential campaign announcement, he took the stage to Bon Jovi's "We Weren't Born to Follow."
