Eagles CB Quinyon Mitchell
The Philadelphia Eagles listed 10 players on their initial injury report ahead of their NFC Championship Game matchup against the Washington Commanders. The Commanders listed 14 players on their initial injury report (not including rest-only players).
Here's the Eagles-Commanders injury report, with analysis...
Player | Injury | Wed | Thurs | Fri | Status |
TE Dallas Goedert | Ankle | DNP | DNP | Full | - |
C Cam Jurgens | Back | DNP | DNP | Limited | Questionable |
QB Jalen Hurts | Knee | Limited | Full | Full | - |
RT Lane Johnson | Knee/Rest | Limited | Full | Full | - |
WR A.J. Brown | Knee/Rest/Illness | Limited | Full | Full | - |
CB Quinyon Mitchell | Shoulder | Limited | Full | Full | - |
EDGE Josh Sweat | Ankle/Rest | Limited | Full | Full | - |
WR Britain Covey | Neck | Limited | Limited | Limited | Out |
QB Kenny Pickett | Ribs | Full | Full | Full | - |
DT Byron Young | Hamstring | Full | Full | Full | - |
Wednesday notes:
• Wednesday's practice was a walkthrough, no media allowed.
• Quinyon Mitchell said that he will play on Sunday.
• Dallas Goedert's ankle injury is new, and worth monitoring throughout the week.
• Cam Jurgens' back injury is concerning, too, and it's maybe worth noting that the Eagles signed veteran center Cameron Erving to the practice squad on Wednesday.
• There is little reason for concern about the availability of Lane Johnson, A.J. Brown, and Josh Sweat this week.
• And finally, Hurts was listed as a "limited" participant. Again, no media at this practice. We'll get a better look at him on Thursday.
Thursday notes:
• During his Thursday press conference, Nick Sirianni said that Jurgens would be at practice. He wasn't, and Landon Dickerson got reps at center. Not ideal. Dickerson filled in at center for Jurgens against the Buccaneers Week 4 when Jurgens had to leave the game temporarily with cramps. They did not put one of the backup bench centers in the game.
We're not saying that Jurgens won't play, but if he can't, look for Dickerson to start at center and Tyler Steen to start at LG.
• Goedert was at least out on the practice field, but he didn't practice for the second straight day. Goedert has been the Eagles' most reliable target in the passing game during the playoffs so far.
• Hurts was a full go. There was never a doubt that he would play, but that's also a good indication that he won't have any restrictions.
Friday notes:
• The Eagles had a super short practice on Friday, in the bubble.
• Goedert and Jurgens practiced for the first time this week. Goedert is a go, Jurgens is questionable. It's maybe worth noting that Jurgens declined to speak with reporters on Friday.
Saturday notes:
• Above we made the possible connection of Jurgens missing practice and the team signing veteran Cameron Erving. Well, they released Erving on Saturday.
We have elevated LB Nicholas Morrow and FB Khari Blasingame for the game. In addition, we have signed DE KJ Henry to the Practice Squad and have released OL Cameron Erving from the Practice Squad. pic.twitter.com/8NBaa2UuKF

Maybe the Eagles feel confident about Jurgens' back or maybe Erving just stunk. 🤷♂️
Sunday notes:
• Jurgens is reportedly "a game-time decision."
We are off and running in Philly!

Jalen Hurts is ready to go, is his Center Cam Jurgens? @NFLGameDay @nflnetwork @nfl #FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/HQWvvEwNut
I'll have eyes on Jurgens during Eagles pregame warmups.
• LB Nakobe Dean (IR): Dean tore a patellar tendon, which is an extremely serious injury, as our Evan Macy laid out. His season is over, and he will very likely miss time in 2025 as well. Dean had a breakout season in 2024, making 128 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble, two recoveries, and a game-sealing INT Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was replaced in the lineup by Oren Burks against the Rams.
• EDGE Brandon Graham (IR): Graham tore his left triceps in the Eagles' win over the Rams. Before the season, Graham said that the 2024 season, his 15th in the NFL, would be his last. He played very well, and was arguably the team's best edge defender. Graham finished with 20 tackles and 3.5 sacks, with his stats not truly showing his actual impact, as has been the case throughout his career. Graham has hinted that there is a chance he could return if the Eagles advance far enough in the playoffs.
• WR/RS Britain Covey (IR): Covey was previously on IR with a shoulder injury. He returned from that injury and played in games, but landed on IR once again with a neck injury. Cooper DeJean has return punts in his absence. Covey had his 21-day practice window opened up on Wednesday.
• FB Ben VanSumeren (IR): VanSumeren was a core special teams player and linebacker who became a fullback for the Eagles this season, and looked pretty good in that role. He suffered a lower-body injury during practice and landed on IR.
Player | Injury | Wed | Thurs | Fri | Status |
RG Sam Cosmi | Knee | DNP | DNP | DNP | Out |
DT Daron Payne | Knee/Finger | DNP | DNP | DNP | Out |
LB Bobby Wagner | Ankle | DNP | DNP | Limited | - |
TE Zach Ertz | Rib/Rest | DNP | Full | Full | - |
EDGE Clelin Ferrell | Knee/Rest | DNP | Limited | Limited | - |
WR Olamide Zaccheaus | Hip | Limited | Limited | Full | - |
DE Javontae Jean-Baptiste | Shoulder | Limited | Limited | Limited | Questionable |
LB Frankie Luvu | Shoulder | Full | Limited | Limited | - |
C Tyler Biadasz | Ankle | Full | Full | Full | - |
OT Brandon Coleman | Shoulder | Full | Full | Full | - |
RB Jeremy McNichols | Hand | Full | Full | Full | - |
TE John Bates | Shoulder | Full | Limited | Limited | - |
LB Dominique Hampton | Back | Full | Full | Full | - |
TE Ben Sinnott | Shoulder | Full | Limited | Limited | - |
QB Jeff Driscoll | Illness | - | DNP | DNP | Questionable |
Wednesday notes:
• Starting RG Sam Cosmi tore an ACL against the Lions in the Divisional Round. His season is over. Trent Scott filled in at RG against the Lions and played 46 snaps in that game. During the regular season, Scott played 51 snaps at LT, and 128 snaps at RT. Scott is an undrafted journeyman who has also played for the Chargers, Panthers, and Steelers. He got one start this season, at RT against the Steelers. Expect the Commanders to give him help all day against Jalen Carter.
• Zach Ertz and Clelin Ferrell both have rest designations along with their injuries, so we'll get a more true idea of their health tomorrow.
• Daron Payne and Bobby Wagner are both starters, so their statuses are worth monitoring. Wagner played with a high ankle sprain against the Lions in the Divisional Round. Payne's knee injury is new.
Thursday notes:
• Payne and Wagner still haven't practiced. We'll assume that Wagner will play, since he played with his injury last week, but both players will likely be hampered on gameday if they play.
• Luvu had the only noteworthy change, from full participant on Wednesday to limited on Thursday, but there's no reason to think he won't be out there trying to hit people with the crown of his helmet on Sunday.
Friday notes:
• Payne is the only noteworthy player with an injury designation. He did not practice at all this week, and is questionable to play.
Saturday notes:
• Daron Payne has been ruled out by the Commanders. Payne had 42 tackles and 4 sacks this season. He hasn't missed a start since 2019. Rookie Johnny Newton will likely start in his place, and the Commanders' interior line will be tested against the best running back in the NFL.
It's probably worth noting that DT Jonathan Allen missed both Eagles-Commanders matchups during the regular season, so the Commanders are used to being down a starting DT against the Eagles.
• WR Noah Brown: The Commanders signed Brown off the street after the Texans cut him this offseason. He played in 11 games, starting 9. He had 35 catches on 56 targets for 453 yards (12.9 YPC) and 1 TD (the Hail Mary against the Bears). Brown suffered a kidney injury, and his season is over.
• K Austin Seibert: Seibert is 27 of 30 on field goal attempts, 22 of 24 on PATs. He missed a couple of games with a hip injury, came back and missed three kicks in a loss to the Cowboys before landing on IR. The Commanders' current kicker is Zane Gonzalez, who is 9 for 12 on field goal attempts this season, and 27 for 27 on PATs.
