Live free agency updates: Phillies view Josh Harrison as back up plan to Manny Machado

The slowness of the MLB offseason continues, and we're running out of things to report.

With the big prizes of Manny Machado and Bryce Harper still potentially weeks away from deciding where they will play in 2018, there's not much else the baseball world can do but wait.

Clearly the Phillies are making it a priority to improve their line up, both in the outfield and the infield. They do not appear, according to most reports that surface connecting them to pretty much every free agent out there, content with who they currently have.

As such, it doesn't come as a surprise that in addition to Machado and to Mike Moustakas, third baseman Josh Harrison is also a target — or a back up plan should their top ambitions fall through.

Harrison, 31, is a career .277 hitter, though he had his worst season with the bat last year for the Pirates hitting just .250 in 97 games. He's a two-time All Star, can play both second and third, and happens to also be a former teammate of newly-inked Phils outfielder Andrew McCutchen.

Here's a way to follow all the news and rumors as they break while MLB's hot stove moves like molasses:
