The Phillies desperately want to improve their roster for the 2019 season, that much is clear.
Whether it's the "stupid" money comment from part owner John Middleton, their rolling out the red carpet for visits from free agents Manny Machado and Patrick Corbin (who spurned the Phillies anyway) or rumors of hot pursuit of Bryce Harper, the Phillies are star hunting to the best of their ability.
But with the free agent market stagnant at the moment as top players consider their next moves, the trade market is still a viable option for the Phillies.
According to reports, they are one of a bevy of teams attempting to pry Cy Young pitcher Corey Kluber away from the Indians.

Kluber is 32 and won 20 games last year with a 2.89 ERA. He is one of the top pitchers in all of baseball and would be a very good fit atop the Phils thin rotation.
