The man who some say is the former leader of the Philadelphia mob is out of jail.

Joseph “Skinny Joey” Merlino, 53, came after a favorable federal appeals court ruling Thursday that ended his four month sentence for a parole violation, according to NBC10.
The man who was thought to have headed Philadelphia's mob operation in the 1990s was convicted in 2001 on racketeering charges. Last fall, he was accused of violating his parole by associating with an alleged mobster, according to
Philly.com.
Merlino may now return to the restaurant he was working at in Florida.
The appeals court moved up his release date that was originally scheduled for May 3.
Merlino claims he is done with any mob-related activity.
