Police want to identify a burglar who broke into a Northeast Philadelphia laundromat on Friday.

Video surveillance captured a man using a club to shatter the glass door of a Northeast Philadelphia laundromat Friday morning. But once inside, the burglar found nothing to steal.

The video depicts a black Cadillac Deville pulling up to Pristine Laundromat, 8799 Frankford Ave., at 6:30 a.m. An unknown male exited the passenger seat and then broke the glass door of the business. Once inside, the man examined a shelf of detergent and attempted to open the cash register drawer before returning to the car.

But the man was not done. He then re-entered the laundromat, only to again leave empty-handed.

Philadelphia police are searching for the culprit, described as a bearded, white man with a stocky build, brown hair and wearing a gray hoodie and black pants. The man, likely in his 30s, fled in the late 80s Cadillac, driven by another person. The car was last seen driving north on Frankford Avenue toward Academy Road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northeast Detective Division at 215-686-3153.
