Man dies after being shot in head during home invasion in Kingsessing

A man is dead after police say he was shot during a home invasion in Kingsessing Monday night, CBSPhilly reports.

Authorities said three men entered a home on the 100 block of S. Ruby St. through an unlocked door after 11 p.m.

They announced a robbery and took a 26-year-old woman into the kitchen, threatening to shoot her, police said. They then shot her 50-year-old husband in the head in the living room before fleeing the scene, authorities said.

Police said a rifle was found on the front porch of the home, and numerous casings from a semi-automatic weapon were found in the living room near the victim.

The man was taken to Presbyterian Hospital where he died from his wound. Three children who were in the home at the time of the invasion were unharmed.

Authorities said an overturned 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo was later found at 51st Street and Locust Street with a bloody handgun and explosives inside. Police said they believe it may have been the getaway car. No one was found inside the vehicle.

The incident remains under investigation.
