WWE took over the BMO Harris Bank Arena in Rockford, Ill. for this week’s edition of SmackDown. Coming off a memorable Memorial Day edition of Monday Night Raw, mainly due to the angle involving AJ Styles and John Cena, SmackDown looked to keep the momentum going heading into the first weekend of the summer.

Monday’s Memorial Day edition of Raw took place in Green Bay, Wis. at the Resch Center. The long-awaited return of John Cena as an active competitor was the major headline going into the show as WWE has advertised his return for over a month.

Hot off the heels of the announcement that SmackDown will be going live on Tuesday beginning in July, WWE presented Thursday’s edition of SmackDown from the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va. Yes, SmackDown is taped in advance on Tuesday nights, but that won’t be the case anymore. Beginning July 19th, the show will air live on Tuesdays instead of be taped to air on Thursdays. So I’ll be bringing you Monday Night Raw recaps and SmackDown recaps back-to-back.

WWE announced Wednesday morning that SmackDown will move to Tuesday nights and air live each week beginning in July. Variety first reported the shows would draft separate rosters, and WWE also confirmed that.

One day removed from Sunday’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view, the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore hosted Monday Night Raw. The fallout from Extreme Rules was more of a new direction headed straight towards next month’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

The Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. hosted the most extreme night of the year, or so WWE would want you to believe. Extreme Rules is the pay-per-view where the rules are bent and the lines are crossed, so I was looking forward to seeing what WWE had in store for us. And it turns out it had a lot in store for us.
