SZA reschedules Philadelphia concert for September 26

The Wells Fargo Center will honor tickets from the original March 2 show, which was postponed due to 'production issues'

Local SZA fans received welcome news on Tuesday, as the R&B singer announced a new date for her previously postponed Philadelphia show.

SZA will perform at the Wells Fargo Center at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26. All tickets for her original March 2 concert will be honored, according to the venue.

The singer's first arena tour was scheduled to make a stop in Philadelphia last month, but the concert was unexpectedly canceled hours before SZA was expected to take the stage.

It wasn't immediately clear why the concert had been postponed. SZA had made an appearance at the Billboard Music Awards the night before, when she won the Woman of the Year Award, and later played a secret show in New York City the same night as her postponed Philly show.

But she soon took to Twitter to clear things up, offering an explanation to fans and a promise that the show would be rescheduled.

"Phillyyyy I REALLY wanted to see you tonight but due to unforeseen logistical/ production issues we’re  FORCED to reschedule," SZA wrote in a tweet, also noting that refunds would be available for those who wanted their money back.

SZA, who was raised in Maplewood, New Jersey, is currently touring North America to promote her critically-acclaimed sophomore album, "SOS," which debuted in December at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200. The album follows her certified platinum, Grammy-nominated 2017 album "Ctrl."

Along with a new Philly date, which will not include former opener Omar Apollo, SZA also announced a European leg to her "SOS" tour this summer as well as more North American shows this fall.

The tour, which kicked off in Columbus, Ohio, on Feb. 21, finished its first leg on March 23 in Los Angeles. With the additional shows, it is currently scheduled to end in Phoenix on Oct. 29.

Reminiscent of the aquatic cover art of "SOS" as well as the album's title, the tour has a "loose shipwreck theme," according to Variety.

SZA performs the show on a nautical-themed stage, complete with a fake fishing boat and a lighthouse. She has also welcomed special surprise guests, like Phoebe Bridgers and Lizzo, onstage to perform during certain stops on tour.

Fans who did not have tickets to the March 2 show but want to see SZA's Philadelphia concert in September can purchase tickets for the new date through Wells Fargo Center.
