A Mt. Laurel man pleaded guilty Tuesday to killing his wife and later disposing of her body, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Kyle Crosby, 29, admitted in court to choking his wife Erica Crippen to death in their home on New Year’s Eve 2014. He also told the court that he later transported her body to Maryland.
Crosby was charged with murder in January after Crippen, a 26-year-old mother of two, went missing on New Year’s Eve.
Crippen's remains were discovered March 17 by investigators in a rural area in Sykesville, Maryland. She was found underneath a pile of branches and limbs in a grove of pine trees off Old Frederick Road in Carroll County, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Investigators tracked the location of Crippen’s body through coordinates found in a GPS left in her red 2000 Ford Taurus, which was in Crosby’s possession when he was apprehended in Bellmawr, Camden County, on Jan. 12.
Crosby, who pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and hindering apprehension, faces a total of 31 years in state prison.
As part of the plea deal, charges filed against Crosby's mother will be dismissed at sentencing.
Crosby remains in the Burlington County Jail on $1.2 million bail.
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 4, 2016.
