Pennsylvania Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dave McCormick conceded last week to his opponent Mehmet Oz, but GOP leaders in Pennsylvania view him as a top candidate to challenges Democratic U.S. Sen. Bob Casey in 2024. McCormick, the former hedge fund CEO and West Point graduate, reportedly plans to remain in Pennsylvania to pursue his future in politics.

A family's dog was fatally shot by a neighbor Friday morning in the Magnolia Hill section of Levittown, authorities said. The neighbor told police that he was walking his German shepherd when an American bulldog escaped its owners' yard and attacked his dog. The man, who had a license to carry a firearm, shot the American bulldog once causing fatal injuries. The incident is under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.

Two employees of M&M Mars were rescued Thursday after they fell into a chocolate tank at the candy manufacturer's facility in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. The employees became stuck inside the tank and had to be freed through a hold cut in the bottom. Both employees were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. It was not clear how the workers fell into the chocolate tank.

The University of Pennsylvania is developing a new life sciences complex at its Pennovation Works campus along the Lower Schuylkill in West Philadelphia. The project will bring 455,000 square feet of new lab and office space to the campus at 3401 Grays Ferry Ave. Longfellow Real Estate Partners, a national leader in life sciences development, was selected to lead the project as Philadelphia continues to emerge as a hub for cell and gene therapy. The new facility is expected to be completed in late 2025.

A mysterious creature was spotted by a game camera outside the Amarillo Zoo in the Texas panhandle. Zoo staff and city officials are stumped by the upright creature, who turned up during a review of images from the night of May 21. Amarillo officials invited the public to help solve the mystery of the unusual, dog-like cryptic. Some have speculated that it's the chupacabra, while others believe it might be a person in costume or a coyote walking on its hind legs.

Giant will open a new Philadelphia supermarket at Broad and Spring Garden streets on June 24, 2022. Another store will open in Richboro, Bucks County on July 1. Adam Sandler's Netflix movie "Hustle" premiered at the Philadelphia Film Center on Tuesday night. At a red carpet event, Sandler was joined by co-star Juancho Hernangómez, director Jeremiah Zagar, Philadelphia 76ers star Tobias Harris and NBA analyst Kenny Smith, among others who attended the event. "Hustle" was filmed at various locations in the Philadelphia region during 2020 and 2021. The movie stars Sandler as a basketball scout hoping to bring Spanish prospect Bo Cruz to the NBA, and to work his way up to an assistant coaching role.

A 53-year-old man drowned Tuesday afternoon off the coast of beach in Wildwood Crest, authorities said. The victim, identified as Joel Green, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, is the second person this month to die in the water off the coast of the barrier island in Cape May County. Last week, 19-year-old Alfred Williams, of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, died while swimming off the coast of a Wildwood beach near East Andrews Avenue.
