Teen riding dirt bike critically injured after being struck by SUV in Strawberry Mansion

Police say a teenager who was riding a dirt bike was struck by a vehicle in Strawberry Mansion Thursday night, CBSPhilly reports.

The incident occurred just after 8 p.m. at Glenwood Avenue and Diamond Street.

Authorities say a 17-year-old boy was traveling north on the 2500 block of Glenwood Ave. when he was hit by a BMW SUV.

The boy was found lying on the street beside a dirt bike, which authorities say he had been operating illegally on the street. He was taken to Hahnemann Hospital with head, face and upper body trauma and was listed in extremely critical condition. 

The driver remained on the scene, police said.
